Sepia Scenes #61

Join us again for Sepia Scenes! I found the photo below on the front of a house on City Island, Bronx, NY. The house used to be a bed-and-breakfast but is now a private residence called North Wind.
It is located at the island's northern tip and was once the home of the North Wind Undersea Institute, a museum that held old scrimshaw, shark jawbones, the 100-year old Andre Guillet tugboat, and aquariums featuring rare blue lobsters and some sea turtles. It was run by former Navy Seal Michael Sandlofer.

She is a ship's figurehead.

The artist had the right idea, look at her dress that is flowing in the nautical winds. She looks stern as she compels the nautical personnel to 'Sail On!'. No headwind is too strong with her leading the way!

She is beautiful--and the sepia really brings out that beauty, giving her a sense of timelessness. Love the shot Mary.

I agree with Ralph, her dress looks as though it's flowing with the wind. Looking real lovely :)

Love the header.
And the ship's mistress is great. MB

Mighty snazzy decoration for a private home! ;-) But then I read on that it's located on the tip of an island, so it makes sense!

She can be my figurehead any time!

Marvelous. I can almost hear her saying, "Yes, the wind! NOW we are getting somewhere!".

She's very pretty in Sepia so I'm guessing she is quite beautiful in color!
Imagine her on the side of your home - awesome!

I love your new Nutcracker header, Mary. I like that it's all sepia except for one. Cool!

She's a great figurehead. Let me introduce her to the Grand Turk.

Mary, Purrchance To Dream also has a Sepia Scenes post up for this week!
I love your holiday graphic, and your ship's figurehead is just great.
Have you read "The Secret Life Of Bees"? Every time I see a female ship figurehead, I think of Black Mary.
Cheers,
Mo

Bonsoir, Mary,
Enjoyed perusing all three of your blogs, but the sepia tones really grab me (probably because I have so many sepia-toned postcards:) This image of the ship head is definitely my favorite!
