I saw this sculpture at the Nassau Museum of Art last Sunday in its out door sculpture gallery. What I noticed when I was looking at the photos was the difference in the face. Doesn't the face in the first photo look sad? But in the second photo doesn't she look terribly frightened?
How did that happen?

I posted a photo of one of our kitties.
She could be scared, of course. Or she could be startled, even surprised at a natural occurrence she saw while bicycling. She could be affected by the wonderful beauty she sees on a relaxing ride...
Guess it's true... perspective is everything.

Amazing sculpture. I see sadness in both shots. They look wonderful in sepia.
Yes. I saw both. I find it very disturbing.
The difference captured is probably from the angle and close proximity of the 2nd picture. But of course I might be wrong :)

I really like this sculpture! It has so much emotion. The sculptor has likely tried to capture both emotions. Goes to show how little a change is needed to make a facial expression look very different.
yes, she does look scared in the close-up --- can't say that is my favorite statue in the world, but it sure is interesting! and she looks great in sepia!

over @ Purrchance To Dream today, daphne is showing off one of her big pumpkinseed shaped eyes in a color-selective edit that i hope you enjoy!
The play with the light is great! It is very scary face on the second photo. I think they use this technique in Hollywood to put emotional expression on characters wearing iron and other kind of masks.

Yes! There is a real haunted look in the girl's face! Very noticeable in the second photo! A fascinating, unusual sculpture that comes up well in sepia!

Isn't it amazing how much difference perspective can make. I also think that more detail is exposed when you shoot it in sepia or black and white. Your shots are great, but the sculpture is rather strange.
