Welcome to SEPIA SCENES!
As you see I have invented a new header and a new badge for our meme for February and Valentine's Day. Of course you're welcome to the badge.
My sepia photograph was taken in the Everglades when I was in Florida recently. I think this is a Wood Stork.
CORRECTION:
Ramblingwoods is correct this bird is a great blue heron. Thank you RW! :)
I took my color photo and chose the Blue Channel in Adobe Photoshop. I then desaturated the photo, I added a new layer and then experimented with Curves. The photo above is the result. I kinda like it...
I hope you have a sepia photo to show everybody today! Looking forward!
Please sign Mr. Linky and leave a comment. And, of course, go and visit your fellow Sepia Sceners (Is that a word? Ha!)

I don't just kind of like it...I love it! It is a real beauty.
Very nice! The bird actually blended with the background.
Very nice photo !
That? Is one deadly looking bird! Looks like he could put a hurtin' on ya and laugh while he did it. I'm curious... why the Blue channel? Not questioning your choice, just curious how you arrived at it.
The results are cool whatever the case!
I found a deal on Amazon recently on Photoshop CS3, and it just came yesterday. Haven't had a chance to do anything with it yet, but I'm guessing my life just got a little easier. At least now I'm only one generation behind the current version and not six!
It's beautiful Mary..I think your bird is a great blue heron...
Hi Mary,
Repost alert. Here's my sepia photo. You may remember it. :-D
Cool photo of this stork, or heron. You did a lot of work on it! I don't have Photoshop..someday.
Handsome bird! well done in sepia.
What a serious look on that stork's face - great capture.
Beautiful Mary! I can't imagine this being any better in color or B&W.
I love the quote on your header picture!
My first time playing SS. I found the perfect subject!
That's quite amazing, Mary! What a bird. Very regal.
I wasn't sure about the stork or heron. I think Ramblingwoods is right, though...
And Mojo, the blue channel just made that tall leafy plant stand out so much better than the other channels and I liked it so I kept it...
Love the new header and the heron!
I love how this is a 'goldeny' looking sepia. Mr. Heron looks very regal.
And, you've taken something I wouldn't have even began to think about using and made it work beautifully!
Thanks for the reminder! A sepia bird, the uniqueness of it all!
A handsome heron, Mary! I bet he looks good in his real colors, too.
I'm going to differ with RW on the bird - I think it's a Great White Heron or a Würdemann's Heron. Was the body white? Great Whites and Wurdemann's are found in the Everglades.
Ouch! I could imagine that beak aiming right at my eye.
Cool edits you've done once again!
I've played around with curves and most times it gave me results that gave my pictures a total new perspective.
Your heron looks more silver than sepia, but he IS gorgeous! Great shot!
That is one handsome looking Blue Heron you've got there!! I love the silverish golden effect of this sepia!! Mine is up now too!
Love the flow of lines where the bird almost seems to melt into the curving foliage!
I would have said a Crane! But a herron is right! I LOVE those birds! This is beautiful!
Hi Mary,
I love that photo! All the textures and contrasts look great! Mine is posted. Have a great day!!
Sherrie
I love all your sepia scenes and this is no exception. Great shot.
of course RW knows what it is!!
I love the header and the Val Day button
and the heron is astounding!
He looks gorgeous!
What a lovely shot!
This is very nice. I want to join.
I was playing with photo enhancing again this week - the background is sepia in the portrait I did of Daphne, using a 'negative' enhancement.
Check her out on Purrchance To Dream.
That is indeed a Great Blue Heron and what a fabulous portrait. I'm glad you were able to get out and see our wonderful wildlife. Thanks for the new badge, it's perfect for Valentine's Day.
Happy Valentine's Day, Mary and everyone here!
I shoot a greeting pasted on the wall. :-)
