The ladies in my new blog header are my mother (on the right) and a friend (I don't know her name). This is probably the early 1940's while my father was away in the war and I wasn't born yet. This is real sepia color.
I think that's Grand Central in the background. They are probably on their way across town to Macy's.

Your mother reminds me of my Great Aunt Belle. That's how she used to dress, with the fancy hat and coat, always fashionable in New York City.
She looks very stylish and welldressed. It is a beautiful sepia photo!

What a wonderful photo to have!
Oh, the days we used to dress up to 'go to town'. :)
I love the old Esso sign in the background too.
A great piece of family history for you Mary.
I didn't have anyone in my family who looked this chic. But I do remember my grandmother wearing a hat and gloves when she went out, even to the Kroger's grocery.
I love sepia photos!
I love it! My favorite photos is from that time. She looks so pretty.
I love sepia photos. I love the photos in you blog, especially the styles. It is a memory of another time and I recall photos of my own family members dressed in similar clothes. Thanks for sharing.
